Combine the warm, intimate atmosphere of Ivory Moon Lodge with the deeper bush setting of Greenfire Game Lodge on a five-day journey from Johannesburg. Two nights in Hoedspruit lead into two nights in Balule Private Game Reserve, with a full day in Kruger and a scenic Panorama Route excursion linking the experience.
This is a safari with variety rather than repetition: open-vehicle wildlife viewing, dramatic escarpment scenery and time to enjoy two distinct lodge settings. Ivory Moon is your Hoedspruit base; Greenfire places you within the Greater Kruger bush.
From Kruger’s plains to Balule’s quiet tracks
Your first afternoon brings a three-hour sunset drive in Blue Canyon Reserve. The following day, explore Kruger’s Orpen–Satara region on a full-day guided safari, with packed breakfast and bottled water. Look for the Big Five, giraffes, antelope and birdlife without any promise of particular sightings.
At Greenfire, four further reserve drives introduce Balule at different times of day: sunset on arrival, sunrise and sunset on Day 4, and a final sunrise drive on Day 5. Between outings, enjoy relaxed meals and time by the pool. The daily itinerary includes three sunset drives, two Balule sunrise drives and one early-start full-day Kruger safari.
Scenery between safari stays
On Day 3, travel along the Panorama Route, taking in Blyde River Canyon, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, God’s Window and scenic waterfalls. An early departure balances sightseeing with the onward journey to Greenfire; the precise stops and arrival time depend on road and weather conditions.
Price and practical details
US$2,600 per person sharing; US$3,640 for a solo traveller. Return shared shuttle transfers from OR Tambo, lodge connections, four nights, scheduled activities, conservation fees and the stated meals are included. Beverages are extra except for the explicitly included Day 1 sundowners and snacks, and bottled water on the full-day Kruger safari.
Flights from Johannesburg or Cape Town can be arranged as an optional upgrade at additional cost; they are not included in this road-transfer package. Your return to OR Tambo is expected between 17:00 and 18:00, subject to traffic and connections. Confirm a suitable onward flight time with us before booking.
