One lodge, six days of changing perspectives
Unpack once and let the bush set the rhythm. With five nights at Tremisana Game Lodge in Balule Private Nature Reserve, this lodge-based safari brings together long days in Kruger, reserve drives at different hours and a guided walk along the Olifants River. It is a varied wildlife journey with comfortable, straightforward accommodation—not an ultra-luxury retreat or a camping tour.
Tremisana’s en-suite, air-conditioned chalets give you a familiar base between outings. Balule forms part of the open Greater Kruger ecosystem, where wildlife moves between adjoining reserves and the national park. Your activities are guided and shared; sightings depend on the animals, season and conditions.
From evening tracks to riverbank discoveries
Your first drive begins in the afternoon and continues after dark, with a bush barbecue at the Marula Tree Boma along the way. On the following morning, an approximately four-hour guided walk along the Olifants River slows the pace: look for tracks, listen for birds and discover the details a vehicle can pass by. An armed guide leads the walk, subject to safety and weather conditions.
Two full-day open-vehicle safaris enter Kruger through Orpen Gate to explore the central and upper-southern landscapes. Rest-camp lunch stops break up the wildlife viewing, with lunch at your own expense. Afternoon Balule drives and a final sunrise outing add a different perspective on the surrounding reserve.
Conservation stories and a scenic return
A visit to Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre offers insight into the care of injured and orphaned wildlife. This is an educational centre visit rather than a wild safari sighting; animal contact or photographs with particular animals are not guaranteed. On the final day, the return journey includes Panorama Route highlights as time and road conditions allow, rather than a separate full-day scenic excursion.
Your lodge safari price
US$1,960 per person sharing; US$2,744 for a solo traveller. The package includes return shared air-conditioned road transfers from Johannesburg, five lodge nights, scheduled drives and the river walk, Moholoholo, Kruger entrance and conservation fees, and meals as specified. Lunches on full-day Kruger excursions and meals at road stops are extra.
Meet at OR Tambo Airport; Johannesburg hotel collection can be arranged on request, with the meeting time and any additional charge confirmed before booking.
