From Johannesburg to Pilanesberg’s volcanic landscapes
Leave the city behind for a full-day wildlife outing among Pilanesberg’s rocky ridges, open grasslands and bushveld. The park lies within the remains of an ancient volcanic landscape, creating a memorable setting for a day of guided exploration.
This shared safari combines two different viewing experiences: a morning drive in an open 4x4 safari vehicle and an afternoon drive in a closed minivan. Look for elephants, rhinos, giraffes, zebras and antelope, with opportunities to encounter lions, leopards and buffalo. Your guide shares insights into the animals and habitats along the way; sightings are never guaranteed.
Two drives, with a lunch break between
Pickup from your Johannesburg hotel or residence is approximately 06:00–06:30, followed by a comfortable road transfer to Pilanesberg. On arrival, enjoy around 2½–3 hours of guided morning wildlife viewing in an open safari vehicle.
Take a midday break at a park rest camp, where you can purchase lunch at your own expense. Then explore more of Pilanesberg on a 2–2½-hour afternoon game drive in a closed minivan. Leave the park around 15:30–16:00 for the return journey to Johannesburg; arrival time depends on traffic and the day’s arrangements.
Price and separate costs
US$190 per person sharing; US$266 for a solo traveller with the standard 40% supplement. Johannesburg pickup and return transfers, the morning open-4x4 drive and afternoon closed-minivan drive are included. The vehicle is shared, not reserved exclusively for your group.
Lunch and conservation fees are not included. The supplied conservation charge is R500 per traveller, paid in person; park charges may change, so confirm the current fee before travel. Personal purchases are also at your expense. Unlike our Sun City bush braai outing, this package starts in Johannesburg and does not include a braai lunch.
Johannesburg is the scheduled pickup and return city. If you need collection from Pretoria, contact us to confirm arrangements before booking.
