Three safaris and a comfortable Pilanesberg overnight
Turn a short Johannesburg getaway into a full wildlife experience with one night at four-star Bakubung Bush Lodge and three open-vehicle safaris. Explore Pilanesberg’s volcanic landscape in the morning, at sunset and again at sunrise, with time to enjoy the lodge between outings.
This malaria-free reserve supports elephants, rhinos, lions, giraffes and a wide variety of other wildlife. Your guides follow the conditions and animal movements on the day; sightings, including the Big Five, cannot be guaranteed.
Bakubung Bush Lodge
Stay at a family-friendly bush lodge with views towards a hippo pool and the surrounding reserve. Relax beside the swimming pool or enjoy the lodge grounds between drives. Facilities include tennis courts, a gym, children’s play areas, Marula Grill restaurant, cocktail bar and limited Wi-Fi. Legacy Balance Spa treatments and other additional services are optional extras. Request an accessible room in advance so availability can be confirmed.
Two different vehicle experiences
Day 1 includes morning and sunset safaris in open vehicles with a planned capacity of ten guests. The following sunrise safari is operated by Bakubung in a larger open vehicle with a planned capacity of twenty guests. This lodge-operated outing forms part of the overnight programme. These are shared drives, not exclusive private vehicles.
Meals, downtime and the return journey
Lunch and dinner are included on your first day. After the final sunrise drive, enjoy breakfast and check out by approximately 11:00. Spend the remaining time at the lodge before the standard shared return shuttle collects guests around 14:00–14:30. Day 2 lunch is at your own expense.
An optional closed-vehicle outing may be arranged within the standard programme. A private return transfer or an additional open-vehicle safari with lunch can be quoted separately. Optional-extension prices, timings and vehicle arrangements must be confirmed in advance; they are not included in the US$850 package.
Price and what is covered
US$850 per person sharing; US$1,190 for a solo traveller with the standard 40% supplement. The price includes return air-conditioned shared transfers from Johannesburg, one Bakubung Bush Lodge night, three approximately three-hour open-vehicle drives, optional closed-vehicle viewing as arranged, lunch and dinner on Day 1, breakfast on Day 2 and the Pilanesberg conservation fee. Drinks, gratuities, personal purchases, spa treatments and optional upgrades are extra.
Hotel or OR Tambo pickup is agreed in advance, usually around 05:30–06:30. Johannesburg drop-off is expected approximately 17:30–18:00, subject to traffic. Confirm airport connections with us before booking flights. All times and vehicle allocations are planned arrangements and may vary with operating conditions.
