Wildlife mornings and five-star downtime
Spend two days exploring Pilanesberg with a comfortable overnight base at Ivory Tree Game Lodge. Three guided open-vehicle safaris give you morning, sunset and sunrise perspectives on the reserve, while time between outings lets you slow down at this five-star lodge surrounded by the park’s volcanic hills.
Pilanesberg is a malaria-free reserve with varied habitats and opportunities to see elephants, rhinos, lions, antelope and birdlife. Rangers work with the day’s conditions and animal movements; Big Five sightings cannot be guaranteed.
Your Ivory Tree lodge stay
Relax beside the large swimming pool, enjoy the lodge’s dining spaces or settle into the bushveld setting between drives. Facilities include a cocktail bar, outdoor boma, curio shop and Wi-Fi. Amani African Spa treatments and activities such as archery, quadbiking and drumming are optional extras, subject to availability and lodge arrangements. Boma dining depends on weather.
A full first day in the reserve
Travel from Johannesburg or OR Tambo in an air-conditioned vehicle, with an early meeting time arranged in advance. A morning open-vehicle safari introduces the park before lunch and check-in at Ivory Tree. Rest at the lodge, then head out for a second approximately three-hour safari in the late afternoon. Return for dinner and your overnight stay.
Sunrise safari and a leisurely finish
Day 2 starts with another approximately three-hour open-vehicle drive, followed by breakfast and time to enjoy the lodge. An optional closed-vehicle drive may be arranged before your return journey. A separately charged additional three-hour safari with a private return transfer is also an option; ask us for the current USD quote and timing rather than assuming this extension is included.
Price and inclusions
US$1,080 per person sharing; US$1,512 for a solo traveller with the standard 40% supplement. Included are return air-conditioned road transfers, one Ivory Tree Game Lodge night, three scheduled open-vehicle safaris, the optional closed-vehicle viewing described in the programme, lunch and dinner on Day 1, breakfast on Day 2 and the Pilanesberg conservation fee. All beverages, personal expenses, gratuities, optional lodge activities and paid safari extensions are extra.
Children and onward travel
Children under six cannot join the scheduled game drives. Contact us before booking with younger children so lodge activities, babysitting availability and any extra costs can be confirmed. Accessible accommodation and game-drive arrangements must be agreed in advance.
The usual city return is approximately 17:30–18:30, depending on traffic and the confirmed programme. Share your flight details before arranging an airport drop-off; an arrival by 18:00 cannot be guaranteed.
