A budget lodge stay with an adventurous start
Combine a guided quadbike outing with four open-vehicle Pilanesberg safaris on this three-day break from Johannesburg. Stay two nights at Sundown Country Estate, a budget lodge-style hotel base near Pilanesberg and Sun City, outside the national park. The focus is wildlife and outdoor time, with a comfortable room and space to relax between outings.
This is a budget safari package, not a luxury lodge stay. Sundown’s grounds provide a different setting from the national park; your Big Five game drives take place inside Pilanesberg. Guides follow animal activity across the reserve’s bushveld and volcanic landscape, without guaranteeing any particular sighting.
Quadbike trails and a sunset safari
Travel from Johannesburg towards the Pilanesberg region, aiming to arrive around 09:00. Join the included guided quadbike safari, planned to finish around 11:30, before lunch at Sundown and time to settle in. Routes and participation requirements are confirmed with the activity operator. Later, explore Pilanesberg on an approximately three-hour sunset drive in a shared open safari vehicle, then return to Sundown for dinner.
Sunrise, downtime and an afternoon return to the bush
Day 2 pairs an approximately three-hour sunrise safari with another sunset drive of similar length. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included at the lodge, with free time between outings to enjoy the pool or relax in the grounds. Spa treatments, additional activities and any independent outing are optional extras, subject to availability.
One final sunrise before heading home
Start Day 3 with your fourth open-vehicle safari, followed by breakfast and check-out. A further quadbike outing or bush walk may be requested at extra cost if it fits the transfer schedule. Otherwise, enjoy a relaxed finish before departure for Johannesburg around noon.
