Take time to settle into Pilanesberg with three nights at five-star Shepherd’s Tree Game Lodge and seven guided open-vehicle safaris. This four-day escape blends wildlife-rich mornings and sunset outings with relaxed lodge meals, high tea and time by the pool.
Explore a malaria-free reserve shaped by an ancient volcanic crater, where woodland, grassland and rocky hills support elephants, rhinos, lions and many other animals. Your guides follow the conditions and wildlife movements on the day; Big Five sightings are possible but never guaranteed.
A comfortable rhythm at Shepherd’s Tree
Start with a morning safari before lunch and lodge check-in, then head out again at sunset. Days 2 and 3 each pair a sunrise drive with an afternoon outing, with breakfast, lunch and high tea in between. Your final sunrise safari on Day 4 completes seven approximately three-hour open-vehicle drives, or around twenty-one hours of game viewing.
Enjoy the lodge facilities during your breaks or arrange optional spa treatments. Dinner may be served at the restaurant or boma, depending on weather and lodge arrangements. On your final afternoon, choose an included optional closed-vehicle drive or remain at the lodge until collection.
Price and what is included
US$2,300 per person sharing; US$3,220 for a solo traveller with the standard 40% supplement. Return air-conditioned Johannesburg or OR Tambo transfers, three lodge nights, seven open safaris, an optional closed-vehicle drive, three breakfasts, three lunches, three dinners, high tea on Days 2 and 3, a selection of local beverages and the Pilanesberg conservation fee are included.
Minibar beverages, drinks outside the included selection, gratuities, personal purchases and spa treatments are extra. Quadbiking, bush walks and other optional activities must be arranged separately; bush walks accept guests aged sixteen and above. Accommodation is subject to availability.
All times are approximate. Standard departure from Pilanesberg is around 15:00, with Johannesburg arrival expected around 17:30–18:30. Share flight details before arranging airport drop-off; an 18:00 airport arrival is not guaranteed.
